The Jazair Awards Academy is proud to announce the creation of the Jazair Awards Film Fund, a bold new initiative aimed at supporting emerging Algerian cinematic voices and enhancing the visibility of national film talent on the international stage. Rooted in a commitment to creativity, access, and long-term industry development, the Fund will provide targeted financial support to short films, with a special focus on first-time directors and early-career filmmakers.
The Fund is designed to accompany projects at different stages—development, production, post-production—and will also support strategic needs such as festival travel, marketing materials, subtitling, and international exposure. Beyond financial assistance, the initiative reflects the Jazair Awards Academy’s broader mission: to build a sustainable film ecosystem by connecting local talent with professional opportunities, resources, and global visibility.
Starting in Q4 2025, the Fund will open its first call for submissions, targeting short films scheduled for production throughout 2026. Projects will be selected based on artistic merit, feasibility, and their contribution to the creative renewal of Algerian cinema. Filmmakers based in Algeria and within the diaspora are both eligible.
With the launch of the Jazair Awards Film Fund, the Academy takes a concrete step toward empowering a new generation of storytellers—and reaffirming Algeria’s place in the cinematic landscape of tomorrow.

The Jazair Awards Academy is proud to unveil its official partnership with Creative Africa Nexus (Canex), in what marks a major step forward for the future of African cinema and cultural collaboration across the continent. This alliance is not simply about joining forces — it is about uniting visions, strengthening platforms, and laying the foundations of a creative economy that reflects the richness and resilience of Africa. At the center of this movement stands Algeria, a land of artists, thinkers, and storytellers — a country that continues to believe in culture as a pillar of identity, unity, and transformation.
Since its founding, the Jazair Awards has grown into more than just a celebration of artistic excellence. It has become a symbol of recognition, empowerment, and pan-African cultural ambition. Rooted in the deep cinematic heritage of Algeria and inspired by the creative energy pulsing across the continent, the Jazair Awards Academy champions the idea that African cinema is not only a reflection of who we are, but also a tool for shaping who we want to become. By partnering with Canex, the Academy affirms its commitment to building bridges — not only between nations, but between generations, industries, and visions.
Algeria has long played a visionary role in the cultural history of Africa. As early as the 1960s and 70s, Algerian cinema emerged as a powerful force on the international stage — bold, politically engaged, and deeply human. The country opened its doors to revolutionary filmmakers, supported liberation cinema, and offered a space for the entire continent to dream and create. Today, this legacy continues through institutions like the Jazair Awards, which work to position Algeria once again as a cultural hub and a voice for pan-African solidarity through the arts.
The partnership with Canex is a natural extension of this vision. It brings together two forces dedicated to the development of Africa’s creative industries, with a shared focus on the film sector — a space where stories become bridges, where identities find expression, and where collaboration turns into impact. Together, Jazair Awards and Canex will co-create programs designed to showcase African cinema, support filmmakers, and generate meaningful dialogue between the different creative ecosystems of the continent. From co-productions and talent platforms to tributes and showcases, this partnership will be a dynamic space of opportunity.
More than ever, African filmmakers need visibility, mobility, and access. They need institutions that believe in their talent and understand the value of cultural investment. The Jazair Awards Academy is proud to take on this responsibility, offering not only recognition but infrastructure, strategy, and vision. With Canex, this mission grows stronger, more ambitious, and more inclusive — ensuring that no creative voice is left unheard, and that every story has the potential to travel, to resonate, and to inspire.
This partnership is a call to dream bigger, to collaborate deeper, and to continue building a future where African cinema is recognized as a global force — not through mimicry, but through authenticity. It is a reaffirmation of Algeria’s enduring role as a lighthouse for African culture and a celebration of the continent’s limitless creative potential. Together, we create. Together, we rise.
