The Jazair Awards Academy is proud to announce the creation of the Jazair Awards Film Fund, a bold new initiative aimed at supporting emerging Algerian cinematic voices and enhancing the visibility of national film talent on the international stage. Rooted in a commitment to creativity, access, and long-term industry development, the Fund will provide targeted financial support to short films, with a special focus on first-time directors and early-career filmmakers.
The Fund is designed to accompany projects at different stages—development, production, post-production—and will also support strategic needs such as festival travel, marketing materials, subtitling, and international exposure. Beyond financial assistance, the initiative reflects the Jazair Awards Academy’s broader mission: to build a sustainable film ecosystem by connecting local talent with professional opportunities, resources, and global visibility.
Starting in Q4 2025, the Fund will open its first call for submissions, targeting short films scheduled for production throughout 2026. Projects will be selected based on artistic merit, feasibility, and their contribution to the creative renewal of Algerian cinema. Filmmakers based in Algeria and within the diaspora are both eligible.
With the launch of the Jazair Awards Film Fund, the Academy takes a concrete step toward empowering a new generation of storytellers—and reaffirming Algeria’s place in the cinematic landscape of tomorrow.

The Jazair Awards Academy is pleased to announce the official opening of submissions for the third edition of the Jazair Awards. From February 22 to May 31, 2025, filmmakers and cinema professionals from around the world are invited to submit their films to take part in this unique celebration of global cinema.
The Jazair Awards were created with a single purpose: to recognize, support and highlight cinematic excellence wherever it is found. This annual event, held in Algeria — a country with a deep-rooted cultural legacy and cinematic heritage — brings together a new generation of filmmakers and established voices, celebrating cinema in all its forms, languages, and aesthetics. The Jazair Awards do not follow trends — they shine a light on vision, boldness, and powerful storytelling.
Submissions are open to films completed or publicly premiered between June 1, 2023, and May 31, 2025. There are no restrictions on format or genre — the selection is open to short films, feature films, documentaries, experimental works, hybrid narratives, and everything in between. The only requirement is that the work carries an artistic identity, a clear directorial point of view, and a cinematic language worth sharing with the world. Filmmakers of all backgrounds and nationalities are encouraged to apply.
All submissions are to be made through the official Jazair Awards platform, where applicants will find the full set of guidelines and the submission form. The application must include a synopsis of the film, a biography and filmography of the director, a screening link or file of the film, and high-resolution visuals. Submissions are free of charge.
The selection process is handled by the Jazair Awards Academy and its appointed programming team, who work independently and transparently. A carefully curated shortlist will be unveiled during the summer of 2025, ahead of the awards ceremony which will take place on October 3, 2025. The ceremony will bring together voices from across the international film community and celebrate the selected works in the presence of industry professionals, press, and cinema lovers.
This third edition of the Jazair Awards continues to affirm its unique position in the international film circuit. More than just an award, it is a platform that amplifies voices, creates dialogue between cultures, and supports filmmakers who challenge the medium.
